Today we want to present you Nicolas de Hemptinne from Belgium. He did a lot of traveling with his bike and he wants to share these amazing moments with us.

His last cycling trip in july 2008 was from Calgary (Canada) to Denver (Colorado, USA): In total 3200 km in 28 days on the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route. About 80% of the trip was on gravel and dirt road.

Nicolas about the trip through the Great Divide:

"I´ve found the trip through a recommendation of the «Adventure Cycling Association».

You should be fit and you should have a good bicycle and good equipment.

The trip through Montana and Wyoming is very nice. Colorado, a little bit more touristic, is sometimes not too exciting. But the phantastic landscape compensate everything.

The gravel and dirt roads are sometimes quite steep and drag on for ever. On some days I could ride only with 7.5 miles per hour. That everage speed over 10 hours is sometimes quite exhausting. But than you can go sometimes down hill with 42 miles per hour.

The trip was definitely worth while!"

Cheers to all bikemoments users and thanks for the publication.
Nicolas
